About Renée

Renée Gaubert (pronounced go-bear) grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana with a passion for movement and self-expression. She attended Academy of the Sacred Heart, Benjamin Franklin, and the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts before earning a BA in sociology, with minors in women’s studies and Spanish, from Loyola University and a master’s in social work from Tulane University. As an undergraduate at Loyola, Renée served on the Women’s Studies Committee and the Sexual Assault Advisory Board, and chaired the Loyola University Community Action Program. She graduated summa cum laude and received the Women’s Leadership Award, Spirit of Gemeinschaft Award, and Ignatian Award for Outstanding Female Senior. At Tulane, Renée performed with the Newcomb Dance Company, served as treasurer of the Tulane School of Social Work Student Government Association, and helped develop the Sexual Assault Peer Education Hotline (SAPHE). Renée has served Post-Katrina New Orleans as a Disaster Housing Case Manager, Domestic Violence Victim Advocate, and Mental Health Professional while dancing professionally with D’Project Inc., Ballet Hysell, and her own Broken Mirror Productions. In 2014 Renée moved to New York City, where she performed with the American Liberty Ballet Company while earning her 200-hour yoga teacher certification through Yoga Alliance and Tattva. In 2017 Renée returned to New Orleans and to the social work field as a therapist at Children’s Bureau, and is now providing psychotherapy to adults in private practice. Renée is a teacher graduate of “…A Time to Dance” studio in Algiers, and has taught and performed ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre, and ballroom dancing. Having over 15 years of experience working with mind, body, and community, Renée cultivates holistic empowerment through all her work, helping other creative adults move through trauma.
